Warm without being dim
Perfect reading light. The shade diffuses the bulb so there is no glare, and the touch dimmer actually goes low enough for evenings.

A column of warm washi paper over a solid oak base — the lamp that turns a rented flat into a home by 8 pm.
Akari is our interpretation of the Nordic-Japanese exchange: a body of hand-glued washi paper that takes the harshness out of a bulb, resting on a turned solid-oak base weighted for stability.
The paper diffuser assembles around an inner bamboo rib frame in under five minutes and ships flat, which keeps it affordable and keeps carbon in the ground. One touch dimmer on the cord runs the full range from reading light to candle-glow.

There is no click when you switch it on — just light. Small detail, but it fits the whole feel of the piece.
The Akari Paper Floor Lamp turns our living room into candlelight at 8pm. My partner asked why I did not buy two. Ordering the second one now.
